Change and Creating Your Life

Posted in Baylan Megino, Uncategorized tagged , at 3:26 pm by Baylan

I have been thinking a lot lately about Change and Conscious Creation.

Some people fous on Manifestation.  To create what we want, to manifest it, we must be clear about what that is — what does it look like, what does it feel like, what does it smell like, what does it taste like.  As Janet Bray Attwood says, you create to the level that you are clear.  In other words, in your mind’s eye can you put yourself into that life you wish to create, and really feel it as if it already IS? This is all a forward-looking activity and is powerful in its effect on what is consciously created.

Looking back is valuable, too. Some call it “fully digesting” your experiences.  More simply put, What did you learn — About yourself, about your world, about what you do when faced with each moment’s choices.  This is “the life examined.”  I like to look at “What do I choose to bring forward with me in my life?”  For I truly believe that we have that choice, and by consciously choosing we are being aware and responsible for our life experience.

“That’s all fine and good, Baylan, but what about the people suffering in the world?”  I ask you, when you see such situations, are you given the opportunity to experience and perhaps act from compassion? Or do you shut off your feelings and close down?

If we listen to our great masters who have taught us that person is us (an outer reflection of our inner world, an opportunity to heal a part of ourselves, a kindred physical life traveler who is in our space for a reason, another piece of the image of God/Spirit/Universe/Allah/AllThatIs, etc.), then how we respond is how we treat ourselves at some level.

Where are you shutting off your compassion? Your feelings?

What are you choosing to create?

From the seed of an acorn grows a mighty oak tree. What are you focusing on?  What are you growing in your world?

Change is life. We are all changing at a cellular level all the time.  If we aren’t changing, then we are dead.

The face of change is a choice, whether conscious or unconscious.

In this time of focused Change, let’s look at what we choose to create.  Let’s create a world of joyful living and ease.

Long-lasting change begins with the individual.  Today, spend a few minutes to get in touch with what will make you happy, and take a step or two toward making it happen in your life.

Blessnigs on your journey.

New Year Musings for 2009

Posted in Art and Design, Baylan Megino, Uncategorized tagged at 2:37 pm by Baylan

Eight days into 2009 and I am still looking back while looking forward.

2008 was such a year of sowing the seeds and tending to the soil.  As a result, many old ways and old connections made way for new creations.  Those who had considered starting a new business suddenly were given the opportunity to move forward in this arena with increased vigor.

We moved from old spaces (internal and external) toward new ones with more efficient space and clearer energy that supports us in being more clearly who we truly are.  Some people are still in this transition.

The years of difficulty and struggle started to give way to all possibilities through Change.  Did you experience this, too?  Did you meet new people and hear new ways of thinking that gave you the opportunity to review your life and how you live it?

In the process we have surveyed what is essential to our lives.  Though often painful, we have looked at the excess, what is not serving our purpose.  The opportunity to choose to Do, Delegate or Dump It continues today.  As a result, we keep only that which nourishes and helps us.

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!” – Goethe

2009 will give us more opportunities to consciously create our worlds.  Those seeds planted in the past year or so have grown roots that are getting stronger, pushing the plants up through the hardened soil’s crust.

What kind of creation are you bringing into the world each day?  Are you ready to let the world see who you truly are?

What relationships and resources are you attracting that will help you further along your path?

Are you ready to play full on?

Vote for Change: What good’s the right if it’s not exercised?

Posted in Baylan Megino, FilAm Community, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 8:49 pm by Baylan

The right to vote is the most precious right an American citizen can exercise in politics.  Perhaps it is THE most important because it allows us to participate in choosing the direction of our country, our states, our counties, and our cities.

Last Friday I attended a political fundraiser where many of the attendees were running for office, and several were incumbents.  It was great see so many “minorities” involved in the political process.

When I was young, minorities had very little voice in American politics.  Our parents were more concerned with making a living, feeding the family, and being able to provide a good education so the next generation could get ahead.  Speaking up in public was asking to be shot down as arrogant, a show-off, bringing too much attention.

Then in the 60’s we learned that speaking up and fighting for our rights were effective in creating change.  They ultimately brought about the ethnic studies classes and other opportunities to share our rich cultures and diverse contributions.  We were visible in American society in a positive way.

This laid the foundation to develop new community leaders, and opened the doors to new careers.  Many of their teachers were in the room last Friday, watching as the next generation takes over and creates their own change.  What was notable was the sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.  I did not sense any of the old ways of divisiveness that others tried to exploit in the past, and that are still practiced in other areas.

I asked several candidates about their platforms.  In this shifting era of Change, they spoke of effecting change, being the voice of change, and holding the important role of stability and long-term vision during times of change.  Many were involved in the school boards and resource management agencies.  Nowadays, minorities also are on councils, and a few are vice mayors and mayors.

As a marketing consultant, of course I asked how they had approached getting exposure to their constituents.  Mailings, fundraisers, door-to-door facetime, meet and greets, community meetings, email campaigns, website optimization. . . many of the tried and true as well as the new campaign tools were being used.  Many are optimistic about their ability to win in the election.

The bottom line is:  With all the exposure, how do you get people out to the polls to vote?  Even absentee ballots count!

In past election years I remember how close some of the races were, and how important even a few votes can be in determining the outcome.  In some areas the outcome was determined by less than 30% of the eligible voters.  Where WAS everyone that day?

The last presidential election showed us that we can’t afford to be apathetic anymore, and that Every Vote Counts.  The plaintive “I’m only one vote” only opens the door to defeat.

Too much is hanging in the balance.

How the next President addresses our problems with the economy, the war, healthcare, women’s rights, education, elder issues, veteran’s equity, and so much more will be determined on Election Day.

Will you let your voice be heard and be counted?

Will you help determine the Change the country will experience?

Will you go to the polls and vote?
